Being an audience in Colosseum

Summer comes and also it is vacation time. Well, this year is totally different. I've been dying to go to Italy to see the building that was built in the middle of the city of Rome, Colosseum. All i know about it NOW is that it was built along time ago and used for battles, contest, and public spectacle like when they execute someone. And I saw on TV was that the audience also write there name and what they see on the wall of the Colosseum after they finish seeing what's in there. Even i know more about what they do in there but but you won't want to hear about it's because it'll be boring! Hey, I've arrived at the noon. After you took a long flight you might want to eat, right? Well, I went to a nice restaurant in the city. The waitress at the gate give me a friendly smile and lead me to a nice table inside. It was quite gloomy and dark but it felt warm anyway. Italy reminds me a lot of the pizza and lasagna. So i order it right away, and of course I'm not a vegetable eater type so vegetable must not be included in my dish. The pizza came first and you can scent the smell 100 meters away. The first bite taste like...I don't know...I just fell like I'm flying! The cheese is sweet and the bread taste like soft cloud. The wine..also is very interesting. When I enter the restaurant they decorate the wall with wine. So I tried one! It's from...the year 1999, I think!
Enough about the food, now my dream is about to come true. The Colosseum is only 2km away from here so i went there right after I paid, of course, for my beautiful meal in the amazing country. I arrived just in time the last guide is possible. Well, lucky me! He told me it was started to be build in 72 AD and finish in 80 AD. And that is all I heard about the history.... Oh, also, this place is huge man! Let me tell you that it can be capable of seating 50 000 spectator, isn't that amazing? Imagine, at that time high technology hasn't been invented! But the damaged come in. So regret that the damage from the nature, I mean the earth quake, and the stupid stone robbers damaged part of it.
Even I have to come back to my homeland, I already took pictures I wanted to take. And I know i would remember it for a long time with this trip. Je Taime , Italiano! I promised I'll be back. ^_^

  1. Hi Mickey,
I like the informal, conversational tone you use, as if you're writing a travel blog!

I like the description of the restaurant and food, and the small details you include which make the trip sound like it really happened.

Suggestions - you switch tenses - sometimes using present, sometimes past. Which do you think would work best? Are you remembering it or are you narrating it as it happens? (that might be hard to do!)

When you say you're not going to tell more because it is boring... well, that just makes me want to know what you're not telling me!

Grammar - here's one part you could work on: "But the damaged come in. So regret that the damage from the nature, I mean the earth quake, and the stupid stone robbers damaged part of it."

A bit confusing. Could you combine the sentences? What is the subject of "come" and "regret?"

I wondered how the wine was "interesting."

Can't wait to hear about your next trip to Italy! (or will it be France?)

Thanks for sharing your adventure with us!

  2. I agree with teacher, There are a lot of errors in your paragraph which made me confuse sometimes, anyway you used some great senses( especially, this part '' The first bite taste like...I don't know...I just fell like I'm flying! The cheese is sweet and the bread taste like soft cloud '', you have just made me hungry)!

  5. Hello, Mickey. I can really feel your excitement in your writing. I like your tittle and the way you use your vocabulary to make the readers feel the happiness as if they were there with you. Your article is about being in the majestic Colosseum,so I don't think you described how the site amazed enough. You have written too much about the food rather than the "topic".And Look at this sentence"But the damaged come in." Anyway, I still find your post fantastic.
