The Colosseum

It's 3pm on a hot summer day with mildly humid winds blowing and I'm on my way to visit the Colosseum. It's already been 2 weeks since my adventure in Italy started, and I've seen amazing things from the Gran Paradiso National Park Valle D'Aosta to the Leaning Tower of Pisa, I have seen them all. But one thing is in my way from finishing my complete tour of the country and that is the Colosseum. As I walk through the streets of Rome I can hear crowds of people talking happily in Italian and I can hear music everywhere, it's an atmosphere that makes Italy ,or Rome to be specific, one of the top tourist sites in the world. The soothing smell of Mozzarella cheese, lasagne, and pizza fills the city as I walk pass the Colosseum Restaurant and head near the Colosseum itself. 5 minutes after passing the Colosseum Restaurant, I reached the monument. Being almost 2000 years old and being able to hold almost 50000 people, it is without a doubt that the Colosseum is one of the most recognized wonders in the world. As I was entering the monument through one of it's 80 entrances, I took a look at my watch and saw that it was 3:46pm. After three whole hours of taking pictures and admiring the work of Roman men, I left with a satisfied heart and a hungry stomach. After I had left the Colosseum I had an early dinner at Chicco di Grano then went back to the Splendide Royal Hotel.
P.S. If there's any mistakes in this post please inform me or just simple correct it!
P.S.S When reading please don't fall asleep like I did as I was writing this!!

  1. Well, if you're going to warn readers about falling asleep, you should do that at the beginning! :) Ok, seriously, you're not allow to put down your writing on here, ok?

I like that you start this piece 2 weeks into your vacation, instead of the standard "on the first day of my vacation, I..."

Good for you to incorporate some sounds into this piece - the sounds of the language and music! I wonder if it would be possible to describe them somehow? (is the language fast or slow, romantic, quiet, exuberant, what? Same for music.)

Hmmm, what did you have at Chico de Granno? I am hungry just imagining.

I was a bit confused about the time at the end. At first, I thought you looked at your watch, saw that you had been there for three hours, and left. But I thought: wait, you just got there!

Thanks for taking me on my third trip to Italy this week... ! I enjoyed it. I wonder if Rome really smells like cheese? :)
